Trueline is looking for a hands-on Property Accountant to join our growing accounting team in Stockton, CA.
This is an opportunity for an accountant who enjoys being close to the day-to-day accounting work and wants to take ownership within a large, multi-entity real estate environment. Our portfolio includes more than 100 residential and manufactured housing communities/entities across the West Coast, creating an accounting environment that is fast-paced, detailed, and highly transactional.
This is not a purely analytical or high-level financial reporting position. The Property Accountant will be actively involved in reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger activity, AP/AR-related accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and resolving discrepancies across assigned properties.
The right person is someone who enjoys digging into the numbers, figuring out why something doesn't reconcile, and making sure the books are accurate.
What You'll Do
Manage accounting responsibilities for an assigned portfolio of properties/entities
Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and other month-end entries
Support and participate in the monthly close process
Review general ledger activity and research and resolve discrepancies
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activity in a high-volume environment
Prepare and review property-level financial statements and supporting schedules
Analyze account and financial statement variances and investigate unusual activity
Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple entities
Work closely with property operations, AP/AR, accounting leadership, and other internal teams to resolve accounting issues
Assist with budgeting, reporting, audit support, and other accounting projects as needed
Help improve accounting processes and controls as the portfolio and organization continue to grow
What We're Looking For
5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred
Strong hands-on general ledger and month-end close experience
Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
Experience preparing or supporting monthly financial statements
Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles
Comfortable working with a high volume of transactions, accounts, and/or entities
Experience managing multiple sets of books, properties, locations, clients, or business entities is strongly preferred
Property accounting, real estate, property management, construction, or other multi-entity accounting experience is a plus
