The Quality Engineer will support the functions of bringing new products into manufacturing, root cause analysis and disposition of non-conforming product, and continuous improvement. The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager.
Adhere to Fisher Barton Safety and Quality procedures and regulations and business code of ethics As an Engineer, you will:
Develop Engineering knowledge in your specific area
Run samples and report results requiring limited interpretation following FB procedures; producing good-quality data
Solve routine problems in your area and recommend modifications to existing practices
Meet commitments; working independently using established methods
Assist in new products, procedures. Assist technicians or junior exempts in routine and non-routine activities
Independently make good decisions about routine tasks, seeking assistance when appropriate
Listen and comprehends information being communicated; communicate results to internal stakeholders
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Works with Engineering on the transition of products into manufacturing to ensure all customer requirements are met. Responsibilities may include the following: Development and implementation of control plans and additional work instructions as required o Determine the methods for capably measuring key dimensions and attributes to ensure that products meets customer expectations
When required coordinate, conduct, and analyze Gage R&R studies related to specific products o Prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation when required (All levels) o Review part submissions from suppliers and provides feedback
Provides root cause investigation of internal and external non-conformances. Assists in implementing corrective action and verifying that corrective actions are effective
An active participate and leader in the continuous improvement activities for the company. This will include everything from quality database management and trend analysis to leading formal improvement projects
Assist in leading the company metrology program including: Coordination of external calibrations, purchase of new equipment, database management, manage traceable standards, reporting, etc.
Assists in the maintenance of the ISO9001 Quality Management System and associated documentation
Conducts audits to ensure compliance to the documented processes, policies, and work instructions
Participate in supplier audits as needed
Provides training to employees on quality systems, gauge use and other quality related topics
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree in Quality Engineering Technology or equivalent training and experience, Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
Statistics knowledge (capability, gauge R&R, t-test and other comparison testing, SPC)
Software knowledge, including Microsoft Office and Minitab
Ability to read and understand drawings
