Job Summary:
The Quality Technician supports the Quality Department by ensuring production parts meet dimensional and appearance-related standards. This position supports quality activities, first-part approvals, scheduled quality audits, suspect-material sorting, scrap verification, and identification of process inefficiencies. The role works closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Materials to support quality, compliance, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Support
• Lead quality activities and ensure daily duties are completed in compliance with individual part requirements.
• Support production of quality parts according to dimensional and appearance-related standards.
• Approve first parts in responsible areas as a support function.
2. Quality Audits and Inspection
• Perform regular audits of dimensional measurements according to the established schedule.
• Audit part quality for appearance compliance according to the established schedule.
• Sort suspect material and parts as necessary.
3. Scrap and Process Improvement
• Review and audit scrap for quantity accuracy and accuracy of classification.
• Identify inefficiencies involving scrap, rework, throughput, and labor within assigned programs.
• Determine root causes, identify solutions, and support implementation of corrective improvements.
4. Quality Staff Administration and Support
• Maintain time records for Quality Staff.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Middle School education is preferred.
• 1 year of work experience preferred.
• Advanced English language skills.
• Ability to understand and follow all quality, safety, and environmental processes and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive participation in a manufacturing team environment.
• Color discrimination test approved.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods (8–12 hours).
Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 35 lbs. (16 kg) regularly.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small parts and tools.
