Summary
Leads research, design, and development activities to improve NYPA’s energy services. Designs, constructs, and tests equipment. Ensures that standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance are met throughout all engineering activities.
Engineering, design, and leading the implementation and maintenance of supervisory control systems (SCADA/EMS/DCS), networks, communications and machine control systems (PLC/DCS/HMI/RTU) in support of NYPA G&T assets.
Responsibilities
Provide lead engineer function in support of a limited range of control system design implementation and modification projects, and operations and maintenance activities/practices.
Perform field visits to complete field inspections, condition assessments, and equipment evaluations and develop basic technical recommendations
Develop and supervise the execution of NERC CIP and cyber securities policies, procedures, and technical solutions
Select and apply codes, standards, and procedures to work tasks appropriately.
Independently coordinate cross disciplinary activities for the successful development and execution of projects.
Provide direction and review in the development of project engineering documents and submittals.
For assigned work and projects, provide supervision of maintenance department(s) staff, and contractors, and prepare and monitor the day-to-day work activities of the crafts.
Work with planners in scheduling work activities; oversee the safety of employees.
Review job packages to ensure they are complete and current prior to performance of the work.
Review completed work, job packages, and work orders to verify all steps are complete and to ensure that all data/information is recorded.
Site OT
Perform emergency response on a 24x7 on-call basis for facility real-time computing systems.
Provide oversight of, and if necessary, perform, emergency response activities, ensuring 24x7 on call readiness for facility real time computing systems.
Hold work clearances and coordinate work activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Competency in the design, operation, and maintenance of Operations Technology control systems specific to the electric utility industry.
Fundamental knowledge of Operations Technology control systems and their components. Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Collaborative and team-oriented with ability to build relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
Ability to perform engineering calculations, and complete specifications, scopes of work, reports, and interdisciplinary design packages.
Ability to coordinate the technical and commercial aspects of projects.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects.
