Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and versatile SAP BASIS Administrator based in Chennai to oversee the stability, performance, and security of our core SAP landscape. In addition to core BASIS responsibilities, this hybrid role covers baseline infrastructure networking and cybersecurity tasks, allowing a senior professional to manage minor security patches and connectivity oversight without requiring dedicated specialists. The ideal candidate thrives in a hybrid work environment, brings deep technical expertise in SAP environments, and possesses a foundational understanding of network architecture and security governance. Key Responsibilities 1. Core SAP BASIS Administration (Primary Focus - ~80%) · System Lifecycle Management: Lead installations, upgrades, Support Package Stacks (SPS), Enhancement Packages (EHP), and kernel updates across SAP landscapes (e.g., S/4HANA, ECC, BW, Solution Manager). · Performance & Health Monitoring: Proactively monitor system performance, work processes, lock entries, short dumps, database growth, and background job execution using SAP tools (CCMS, Solution Manager, Focused Run). · Transport & Landscape Management: Manage the Transport Management System (STMS), handle client copies, system refreshes, and maintain synchronization across Development, Quality Assurance, and Production environments. · Database Administration: Perform database administration tasks, including backups, restores, tablespace management, and performance tuning for HANA, Oracle, or SQL databases. · High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Ensure business continuity through robust HA/DR setups, clustering, and routine failover testing. 2. Infrastructure & Networking Oversight (Minimal Focus - ~10%) · Connectivity Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve basic network-level communication issues affecting SAP (e.g., port availability, RFC connections, Web Dispatcher configurations, firewalls, and routing between application servers and databases). · OS & Storage Administration: Manage underlying operating system operations (Linux/Windows) and storage mounting/file-system sizing relevant to SAP data directories. · Vendor Coordination: Act as the technical point of contact for external infrastructure, cloud, or ISP vendors regarding network bandwidth and server health. 3. Cybersecurity & Compliance (Minimal Focus - ~10%) · Security Patching: Regularly evaluate and apply SAP Security Patch Days and relevant OSS notes to mitigate vulnerabilities. · User Access & Authorization: Handle complex user administration, role maintenance (PFCG), profiles, and support segregation of duties (SoD) audits. · Compliance & Auditing: Support internal and external audits (SOX, GDPR, ISO) by generating security logs, access tracking reports, and ensuring system compliance with corporate security frameworks.
