Full-Time Occupational Therapist | Illinois Support Student Participation, Progress & Independence Our Organization is partnering with an Illinois school district to hire a full-time Occupational Therapist for the academic year. This school-based opportunity is well suited for an OT who enjoys working directly with students and using therapeutic strategies to help them participate more successfully in their educational environment. As part of the school team, you’ll provide in-person occupational therapy services based on individual student needs. Your work will help students strengthen the functional abilities needed for learning and daily school routines, including fine motor development, sensory processing, self-care, coordination, and classroom participation. School-Based Occupational Therapist Duties: Evaluate students’ functional and developmental needs. Document services, assessments, and student outcomes. Develop and implement individualized OT treatment plans. Provide direct and/or consultative occupational therapy services. Address fine motor, gross motor, sensory, and coordination skills. Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to students’ educational goals. Support students with handwriting, classroom tasks, and self-care activities. Recommend and implement adaptive equipment and classroom accommodations. Promote student independence, participation, and success in the school environment. Collaborate with teachers, families, special education staff, and related-service providers. Requirements Ability to provide school-based/in-person occupational therapy services. Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program. OTR examination passage is required for Illinois licensure through the examination pathway. School-based experience is preferred but not necessarily required, depending on the district. Active Illinois Occupational Therapist (OT) license through IDFPR, or eligibility for Illinois licensure.
