Purpose The Senior Platform Engineer is a hands-on technical expert responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable and secure data platform capabilities within Microsoft Fabric. This role focuses on managing and optimizing Fabric environments, including networking, capacity, and integration with Azure services, while enabling reliable and high-performance data pipelines across the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold). Leveraging Python for automation, orchestration, and tooling, the engineer develops reusable platform components and enforces infrastructure-as-code principles. The role also implements and maintains CI/CD pipelines for Fabric artifacts (e.g., Dataflows, Notebooks, Lakehouses, Pipelines), ensuring automated testing, deployment, and version control across environments. Working closely with data architects and engineers, the Senior Platform Engineer ensures alignment with enterprise standards for networking, security, and governance, while promoting DevOps best practices, observability, and continuous improvement of SBM’s metadata-driven data platform. Responsibilities Lead and participate in the design, development, and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions across the Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Design and maintain efficient data pipelines and integration processes using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory and ADLS / Onelake. Develop, test, and deploy SQL, PySpark and pure-python ETL/ELT workflows ensuring data quality, consistency, and performance. Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver high-quality solutions aligned with governance and modeling standards. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and architectures for scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
