Senior Engineer in the department of Engineering - Mechanics.
* Job Tasks
The Dimensional Management Engineer is the R&D technical authority for product geometry, GD&T, tolerance architecture, and statistical variation management. The role supports new product development from concept through Design Validation by defining dimensional strategies, conducting tolerance and sensitivity analyses, approving functionally critical drawings, and ensuring robust product interfaces. Prototype, validation, and selected manufacturing data are used to validate engineering assumptions and drive product-design improvements. Routine inspection, production measurement, and operational quality control remain with Metrology, Quality, and Operations.
* Required Qualification
The successful candidate combines advanced dimensional-engineering expertise with automotive R&D product-development experience and the ability to act as an independent design authority.
Education and experienceBE / BTech / ME / MTech in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline. 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, including substantial experience in dimensional product engineering, tolerance engineering, product design, or R&D variation management within the automotive industry.
Experience supporting at least two complete product-development lifecycles from concept and design release through validation, PPAP support, and launch maturation.
Experience in automotive HMI, display systems, control panels, interior products, trims, consoles, garnishes, or comparable multi-component assemblies is preferred. Technical competencies
Expert knowledge of GD&T, preferably ASME Y14.5 and ISO GPS, with demonstrated drawing review and approval responsibility.
Advanced proficiency in worst-case and RSS tolerance stack-up, variation simulation, sensitivity analysis, contribution analysis, and tolerance optimization.
Hands-on proficiency in 3DCS or comparable software, with the ability to build, troubleshoot, review, and approve complex assembly models.
Proficiency in CATIA and/or Siemens NX for 3D model interrogation, sections, measurements, drawing review, and interface analysis.
Strong understanding of product datums, assembly locating strategies, functional measurement alignment, gauges, fixtures, CMM, optical measurement, and scanning.
Sound knowledge of statistical engineering methods, capability, MSA, Gauge R&R, distribution behaviour, sampling concepts, and data interpretation for design decisions.
Knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, verification planning, PPAP interfaces, engineering change management, and design maturity management.
Understanding of variation sources in injection moulding, die casting, sheet metal, machining, coating, bonding, assembly, tooling, and supplier processes.
