The primary function of the Senior Project Engineer is to assist the project team in the administration and management of many of the activities, which are associated with the construction project.
The duties, responsibilities and attributes of the Senior Project Engineer typically include, but are not limited to: Technical Skills
Assist with job office set up
Prepare the initial set up of CMiC, i.e. Submittal Log Registry, RFI numbering system, etc.
Prepare and maintain Submittal Logs
Assist the project team with the initial set up of PlanGrid to organize the contract documents for the teams use
Manage, set up, and oversee progress photo documentation via utilizing PlanGrid
Prepare and maintain RFI Logs in CMiC
Post RFI’s and maintain the accuracy of the projects as-builts
Manage and maintain the Material Procurement Log
Interact with Field Superintendent(s), Field Foreman, Subcontractor Project Managers, and Material Suppliers / Vendors to ensure timely material deliveries to the site
Oversee the contract close out process (O&M manuals, As-Builts, etc.)
Attend project meetings and assist in the preparation / distribution of meeting minutes
Create and organize all closeout binders
Attend and participate in WEO Quarterly Risk Management (QRM) Trainings
Participate in WEO networking events
Participate in all PE trainings, including PE Boot Camps and PE Round Tables
Management Skills
Work closely with the APE(s) and PE(s) that are on your project team and mentor and train where applicable
Assist the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager in obtaining costs from subcontractors for any extra work performed on the project
Log costs properly in CMiC, so the Subcontractor Tracking Log may be utilized
Assist or manage documenting, tracking and maintaining PCI Ticket Log
Start understanding and managing the subcontractor Change Management process by being assigned a few subcontractors that you are responsible for where you will be managing all financial aspects of their project specific Work Order
Prepare, review and distribute Change Order Requests for the trades you are responsible for
Vet Subcontractor Change Order pricing
Take the first pass at negotiating Subcontractor Change Order pricing when applicable
Assist the Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager in providing pertinent information that could affect the Monthly Reconciliation Report accuracy and forecasts
Get involved with the Monthly Reconciliation Reporting and understand the process
Ensure the timely delivery to the jobsite of all project equipment and materials (procurement)
Coordinate with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager on the date subcontracts must be awarded by to maintain the desired material on-site dates, per the P6 schedule
Manage the entire submittal process with the subcontractors and design team
Ensure that the project team is aware of the storage location of all approved Submittals
