Following an internal promotion we are hiring for a Senior Software Engineer- Software Applications will work in the Software team as part of the wider Engineering & Technology Department.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop and support customer-facing Windows desktop applications used to control and run experiments on scientific instrumentation. Working primarily with C#, .NET and related technologies, you will contribute to software solutions that control hardware, acquire and process scientific data, and provide advanced data visualisation and analysis capabilities.
This is a hands-on software engineering role supporting multiple products and projects across Andor's portfolio. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust, maintainable and high-quality software that enables customers to achieve groundbreaking scientific results.
Key responsibilities include:
Design, develop, maintain and support customer-facing Windows desktop applications using C# and .NET.
Contribute to the delivery of software across multiple products and projects within the Software Applications portfolio.
Develop software that interfaces with scientific instrumentation and hardware devices for experiment control and automation.
Implement solutions for data acquisition, processing, storage and analysis.
Contribute to the development of data visualisation capabilities, including advanced 3D and 4D rendering and scientific imaging applications.
Investigate and resolve software defects, performance issues and customer-reported problems.
Participate in software design discussions and contribute to architecture and technical decision-making.
Write clean, maintainable and testable code in accordance with engineering best practices.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the development team.
Collaborate with software engineers, test engineers, product managers and domain experts to deliver high-quality solutions.
Support software releases, deployment activities and ongoing product maintenance.
Share technical knowledge and support colleagues through collaboration and peer review.
Occasional travel to other offices and customer sites
