The Role The Senior Submarine FEA Specialist is responsible for professionally and efficiently conducting Finite Element Analyses (FEA) and providing specialist advice related to the use and application of FEA to overseas and domestic submarine programs. This role may also support surface ship and other engineering programs as required. This role includes recurring long-term deployments (at least 3 months at a time within a 12-month period) at one of our overseas client sites, providing technical advice, working alongside our team of technical specialists. Deployments may include holiday periods. Deployed periods benefit from substantial tax-free allowances. Role Specific Responsibilities: Leading and conducting FEA for existing platforms and/or new builds Conducting pressure hull inelastic collapse assessments Conducting pressure hull fatigue analyses Performing non-linear structural analyses Working with shipyards, dockyards, owners, class and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) Working with leadership to identify the levels of suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) required to fulfil current and projected demand Working with leadership to identify training or other developmental opportunities to develop SQEP within BMT Working overseas for a minimum period of 3 months in a 12-month period General Responsibilities Provide advice and support to external and internal customers Manage your own technical work and evaluate its effectiveness to improve best practice Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team Comply with relevant business and ethics codes of conduct Undertake engineering and non-engineering activities in a way that contributes to best practice Act as Technical Lead (TL) on specified projects Act as Technical Assurer on specified projects Work within the BMT Quality Management System (QMS) processes and procedures Maintain your technical competency in your area(s) of specialization Promotes building a positive team culture through input, feedback and participation in team building and wellness activities Essential: Pressure Hull Inelastic Collapse Assessment Experienced in FEA for Pressure Hull Inelastic Collapse Assessment, including ability to define and implement a process that defines the collapse and operational depths of the pressure hull based…
