Introduction to the Team:
Modern Checkout is Expedia’s next-generation booking platform, replacing legacy checkout systems with a unified, orchestrated experience across Expedia, Hotels.com , Vrbo, and other brands. Team builds and operates customer-facing checkout experiences along with the backend APIs, orchestration, and booking services that support the end-to-end booking journey. Engineers work with technologies such as Kotlin, Spring Boot, GraphQL, gRPC, and React-based services, while partnering closely with product, architecture, and other engineering teams.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure full stack software services and components supporting Expedia Group products and platforms.
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineers to translate business and customer requirements into robust system designs, including low-level design, API design, and data models across front-end and back-end services.
Build and enhance user-facing experiences and supporting back-end services using clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, automated tests, and tooling that improve reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions to simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and improve performance and quality across multiple services or domains.
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of full stack features and services, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, and incremental improvement.
Work across front-end, back-end, data, and platform domains as needed, demonstrating familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows; applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products; and safely integrating and operating AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
2+ years of relevant professional experience.
Experience owning full stack features or services through development, testing, deployment, operational support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of production issues.
