Advanced Space | Full-time | Hybrid
We’re going to the Moon. Think you’ve got what it takes?
About the Role
At Advanced Space, we're enabling humanity's return to the Moon and building the technologies that will take us to Mars and beyond. We're looking for a Software Engineer to develop ground and flight software for missions to the Moon and beyond.
This is a hands-on software engineering role. You'll write and debug C++ and Python code, develop modular and testable software, run unit and regression tests, and contribute to software that supports real space missions.
We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, takes ownership of their work, and is excited to build software in a technically demanding environment alongside a team that's delivering real missions, not just concepts.
This position is open to U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents) only. Visa sponsorship is not available.
About Advanced Space
Advanced Space exists to enable the sustainable exploration, development, and settlement of space through innovative software, mission services, and technology solutions. As the owner and operator of NASA's CAPSTONE™ mission and the Prime Contractor for AFRL's Oracle mission, we're helping shape the future of cislunar exploration while supporting commercial, civil, and national security customers.
Our team combines deep technical expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset. We move quickly, collaborate across disciplines, and empower every engineer to make meaningful contributions. If you're passionate about solving challenging problems and seeing your work fly in space, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Actually Do
Develop and debug software for space missions.
Write and debug basic C++ and Python code supporting ground and flight software applications. You'll contribute to software development efforts while building your understanding of industry-specific tools, libraries, and operating systems.
Build modular and testable code.
Develop software using practices that promote modularity, maintainability, and testability. You'll apply software engineering fundamentals while continuing to grow your understanding of industry tools and best practices.
Test and validate your work.
Run unit and regression tests on new and modified code to help ensure software quality and reliability. You'll learn to identify issues, debug problems, and apply feedback to improve your work.
Solve technical problems and improve processes.
Break down moderately complex problems into manageable components and systematically work through each element. You'll apply new skills to deliver quality code while identifying opportunities for minor process improvements.
Collaborate and communicate effectively.
Work closely with team members and internal stakeholders to complete assigned tasks and deliver high-quality software. You'll learn to tailor your communication for both technical and non-technical audiences…
