Job Summary
The Substation Journeyman performs highly skilled, journeyman-level electrical work in the operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of high voltage electric substations, and other related electrical and mechanical equipment associated with high voltage electric substations. This role supports the construction of new Substations as well as modifications, and upgrades of existing Substations for Electrical Utility Companies.

Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair, testing, adjusting and troubleshooting work of substation equipment/systems which includes, but is not limited to, work involving the following:
Ground grids and steel erection
Buswork (High and Low Voltage)
Airbreak / Hookstick Switches
Control Cable
Terminations (High / Low Voltage)
Control Buildings
Conduit and duck banks
Capacitor bank installations 23kv- 230 kv
Transformers, regulators and circuit breakers
Circuit Switchers, motor-operated and manual switches
During installation and or maintenance, trouble shoot and correct malfunctions of all substation equipment.
