We’re excited to share that we are hiring a Summer Student to join our Operational Engineering team. NOTE: The start date is May 2027, and the length of the term is 4 months. Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, Operational Engineering, the successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for supporting issues on AltaLink’s transmission facilities in Alberta, which range in voltage class from 69kV to 500kV. The successful candidate will be providing support in one or more of the technical sub-groups such as transmission lines, civil, substations, operational technology, SCADA, protection and control (P&C), and compliance. Responsibilities: Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders, including developers, municipalities, consultants, utilities, and landowners, to address inquiries and concerns related to activities near AltaLink facilities. Support the review and processing of third-party proximity, crossing, encroachment, and development requests involving AltaLink transmission lines, substations, and associated infrastructure. Interpret and communicate AltaLink’s standards, requirements, and safe work practices to third parties proposing activities near AltaLink assets. Assist in the review of engineering drawings, site plans, crossing applications, and development proposals to identify potential impacts to AltaLink facilities and ensure compliance with company standards.
