Job Description: At Saab in West Lafayette, IN, you have the opportunity to join a team that manufactures the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. This flagship facility utilizes advanced manufacturing techniques and leverage research and development to support Saab’s broad product portfolio. The Saab West Lafayette operation is currently seeking a Technical Writer to join our team.   Responsibilities include: Serve as the local SME for technical writing and provide guidance/ training for inspectors across multiple shifts Report on writing performance and turnaround time to leadership Identify common/ repeated quality issues and establish corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence Develop best practices for technical writing throughout the organization; maintain and update best practices as needed Responsible for technical writing assignments involving generation of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Inspection Plans/ Control Plans, First Article Inspections (FAIs), and Material Review Board dispositions (MRBs) Develop strong working knowledge of the quality requirements as defined by customer/industry standards Facilitate and develop effective controls/solutions to provide high-quality products to customers within schedule Act has primary point of contact in non-conformance investigations and material assessments Contribute to a people-first culture in alignment to Saab values, demonstrating core Company values: Trust, Drive, Expertise and Support Other projects and tasks as assigned Compensation Range: $64,600 - $80,700 The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training. Skills and Experience: Skills & Experience AS Degree in Quality, Technical Writing, or related STEM discipline OR 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing quality role required. Previous technical writing experience in manufacturing or quality operation is required Ability to work with and articulate technical product/process requirements associated with electro-mechanical assembly Ability to interpret and revise relevant written documentation / work instructions for consistency and efficient repetition is critical. Effective and concise written and verbal communication skills Demonstrates a collaborative approach to problem-solving Ability to be self-driven and deliver high-quality results across a global team Ability to work extended hours when needed. Preferred Skills & Experience BS degree in a related STEM discipline is preferred Hands-on experience with ISO9001/AS9100 or IATF16949 Quality Management Systems, testing and inspection methodologies is a plus; specific experience with air structure assembly is a strong plus …
