HIRING RANGE: $33.46 - $47.01/hour JOB SUMMARY To provide security for Municipal Court and perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Court Marshal. The City of Lakewood is currently recruiting variable employees for this position.  A variable employee is an at-will employee who works in a seasonal or temporary capacity.  Their work schedule is based on business need.  This position would be a part-time non benefitted position. MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This job description does not intend to list every function of the position.) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintain order and provide security for all sessions in the courtroom and hallways of Municipal Court. Operate Court security equipment.  Screens individuals who enter Court area and the Public Safety Center. Assists Court Marshals and Marshal’s office staff as needed. Performs work that requires regular and reliable attendance and the ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.  Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Court Marshal. Must be able to interact with others in a positive manner. Requires regular and prompt attendance. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Supervision Received Receives general supervision from the Chief Court Marshal. Supervision Given None. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Education High school diploma or equivalent. Experience At least two years of experience in law enforcement or specific job related experience. Licensure/Certification/Registration Present Colorado P.O.S.T. certification. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to qualify with duty weapon (9 mm, .40, or .45). Ability to read and understand departmental policies, rules, instructions, laws and ordinances. Ability to carefully observe situations in the courtroom, hallways, magnetometer and surrounding environment. Ability to understand and follow written and oral direction. Knowledge of the use and care of firearms and the ability to understand and use appropriate levels of force, based on specific circumstances. Integrity and the ability to handle confidential information. Ability to qualify with duty weapon and maintain firearms qualification.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments. Ability to remain alert at all times. Must be able to be assertive and exert control over belligerent, distressed or abusive persons, when necessary.
