TITLE: Student X-Ray Tech STATUS: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: All Locations REPORTS TO: Chief Tech/Technical Director
SUMMARY:
The X-ray Student Technologist perform duties under the direction of the Radiologist, Technical Director, and Lead/QC/Chief Technologist. May perform other job related duties as necessary for the efficient operation of SDMI.
MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited school in Radiologic science and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist once graduated.
• Any employee who discovers, is directly involved in or is responding to an event/occurrence/risk is required to complete or direct the completion of an occurrence report within 24 hours of event/occurrence/risk.
• My job performance, including current competencies will be reviewed by my supervisor on a periodic basis. If my job performance/ current competencies are not (or continue to not be) at required level this could result in additional training and/or disciplinary action.
• Aware of proper ACR protocols and requirements, image collection and scanner phantom testing.
• Acquire and maintain all ARRT & BLS certification. Ensure HR has most current certifications.
• Annually sign then the Image Wisely and Image Gently certificates to HR for your employee file.
• Maintain Nevada State Student licensure.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
• Thorough knowledge of basic principles of radiation protection and equipment.
• Basic knowledge of plane and solid geometry.
• Thorough knowledge and skill in radiographic positioning.
• Thorough knowledge and skill in formulating radiographic exposure factors.
• Basic knowledge and skill in aseptic technique.
• Thorough knowledge and skill in administration, side effects and complications of contrast media.
• Oral communication skills to give clear, concise instructions and information to the patient and visitor and communicate with people of various backgrounds and education levels.
• Skill in organizing time and workload to accommodate changes in workload and assignments in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Patience, tact and courtesy to handle patients, visitors and doctors.
• Skill to pay attention to details and accuracy in completing tasks.
• Basic knowledge and skill in the care of IVs catheters, N.G. tubes, chest tubes and various “Ostomies.”
• Thorough knowledge and skill in dealing with the various isolation conditions.
• Communicate openly, directly, tactfully and effectively. Appreciate and respect others’ needs, opinions and concerns.
