Your day at NTT DATA We are seeking a highly skilled   z/OS   Mainframe Storage Engineer   to manage, support, and optimize enterprise mainframe storage infrastructure. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, monitoring, and modernization of storage platforms supporting IBM z/OS environments. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of storage management, including disk and tape storage, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, storage capacity planning, replication technologies, and storage software lifecycle management. The role also involves infrastructure design, hardware upgrades, automation initiatives, and proactive monitoring to ensure maximum performance, availability, and resilience of business-critical systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in IBM mainframe storage technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, operations, and application support teams within a complex enterprise environment. In this role, You will Manage all aspects of mainframe disk and storage administration, including installation, removal, upgrades, updates, provisioning, restoration, and ongoing support. Perform daily operational activities, including health checks, incident management, monitoring, and issue resolution. Plan and implement storage capacity expansions and infrastructure changes. Configure, administer, and maintain storage resources supporting databases, VSAM files, work datasets, and sort spaces. Administer and support storage management products including CA Disk and related utilities. Install, test, evaluate, and maintain storage hardware and software solutions. Perform z/OS hardware planning activities including IODF maintenance, LPAR configuration, HMC administration, and associated system changes. Administer backup, recovery, archival, and disaster recovery solutions. Install, maintain, and upgrade storage-related products using SMP/E and z/OSMF. Manage storage volume allocation, capacity planning, and utilization reporting. Support and participate in disaster recovery testing and recovery exercises. Perform root cause analysis for storage-related incidents and implement preventive actions. Collaborate with systems programming, network, database,…
